Jean-Michel

I saw this guy in my neighbourhood walking into a seedy massage parlour...

I think I should make a comic about his life.

PLASMITES!

Started tinkering a little in Adobe illustrator. In the past, I always used Flash for my vector work, but a recent contract forced me to use Illustrator. There's definitely a lot that Illustrator does compared to Flash, but on the other hand, I find it makes certain tasks more complicated. I'm assuming I just haven't gotten used to it yet.

Plasmites is a project I've had in mind for quite some time, but never got around to it. Spadoid had always been an integral part of the Plasmites, but I liked him a lot so I included him as my overall mascot as well as in Korean Comics. Plasmites is a sort of prototype brand of mine.

Wanted to make something clean, simple & cute...

ドラゴン

This year, instead of a Christmas piece, I made a New Year's piece, which was actually commissioned by my girlfriend to send out as a postcard to her family.

2012 is the year of the dragon. It's interesting to note that although Lunar New Year isn't until January 23rd, the Japanese celebrate the New Year's on January 1st.

Happy holidays, folks!

히드라리스크 (Hydralisk)

I was trying to get some fanart done for the Montreal Mini Comicon and I've always been a fan of Starcraft...

On another note, I finally figured out what the problem was with many of my images displaying over-saturated colors when viewed with Firefox and Chrome. Apparenlty they can't handle the colors of jpegs when I choose "original size" from the embed link in Picasa. Now I just upload PNGs.

Please let me know if you notice any other display issues.

ニャンコ

I've finally had a bit of time lately to get back on track with my webshorts project. I still won't be done for a while, so here's a Japanese cat:

He's saying "nyan!", which is japanese for "meow!"

EDIT: Made a deluxe version with an extra cat!

Сою́з (Soyuz) Longboard

The "Soyuz" is a commissioned design I made this summer for Restless. It was recently released and can be purchased at many fine board shops in the Montreal area and beyond, or you can order directly from their website (though I'm not sure if it's specifically listed their yet).

The red part of the board is actually the wood of the deck itself stained red.

The other board is one of my older designs named "Telsa Bunny" (also available for purchase). I only included it in this post because I don't think I had ever shown a picture of the deck itself.

I was asked to create a design with the Soyuz theme in mind. I took inspiration from some old Soviet space program art that I found online.

ZOMBEE!

We started themed sketch-lunch activities at work, this week's theme was "The Unexpected Undead". I figured noone would ever expect insects to be undead...

They not only feed on bee brains, but can also sting other animals such as humans thus transforming them into the living dead as well.

BEWARE THE ZOMBEES!!

MANIAC

A music video I worked on last august.

I did all the special FX & animations, with the exception of the subtitles and the "versus" shots.

Astronaut Barbie

Cheyenne & Frank are all about drawing Astronaut Barbie these days, so I decided to draw her as well. For obvious reasons, I decided to draw the 1980's Astronaut Barbie:

I really don't know what's going on with those sleeves...

Maia-Bird

I realized many of my post's colors look over-saturated on my PC at work. I hope they don't look that way for you. My home computer seems to display them ok...

East Meets West

Made these a few weeks ago, I was holding off on posting them because I had a few more flag mash-up ideas to go with them, but I'm really busy with freelancing + my day job lately so I haven't time.

"CANIPPON" - Canada / Japan

"MIHANGUK" - USA / Republic of Korea

They can either be taken as political commentaries (particularly the Mihanguk one) or just flags for people of two ethnicities. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone.

La Québécoise

Made this one for a small print that I gave to a dear friend who was leaving Québec... May he never forget.

Had a bit of an anime influence for this one. I guess I was in that mood. I'm considering making this into a series.

Pac-Man VS High Five Ghost

I rarely make fan art. In fact, I find fan (fanatic) to be much too strong a word. In any case, I just finished watching the 2 seasons of J.G. Quintel's Regular Show and I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't say High Five Ghost is my favorite character, but I certainly like his design and premise. Thought it'd be fun to combine him with Pac-Man.
