May its silly storyline help familiarize you with Korea whilst still entertaining you in some way.

Also, I updated the blog layout.

Free Comic Book Day!

FCBD is actually tomorrow, but I will be out of town then to attend the Toronto Comic Arts Festival and therefore won't have computer access.

Please enjoy my free comic to you, which was my contribution to last year's Merure Volume 3 comic anthology. You can still buy your own copy of the book featuring over 20 artists/stories at Drownspire.com!

코리안 코믹스 (Korean Comics)!

I've finally gotten around to seriously studying the Korean language, which is a nice break from my art-related pursuits. However, it occurred to me last week that I may be able to merge both passions into one.

I've always found that restrictions allow for more creativity. In this case, my severe lack of Korean fluency poses an interesting challenge in coming up with entertaining comics strips.

The idea is that if I continue the comics over a long period of time, the text will improve along with my grasp of the language, making it a sort of journal of my progress.

Hopefully I won't insult an entire culture in the process.

Enjoy!

Spadoid: Bottoms up!

Merure 3!

Merure 3, the comic collective I'm occasionally a part of, is on it's way!

Merure 3 is a collection of 23 montreal-based artists who each contributed a 3 page comic of their own design. Nearly all of the comics lack any kind of text, so anybody can enjoy them, no matter where they're from! My good friend Cheyenne from Sheridan is part of the line up, as well as a host other very talented individuals, like my personal fave, Boum!

The official launch will be October 22nd @ Restaurant Le Grillon in sunny Montreal! If you can't make it, you'll be able to order your copies online @ Ika & EsSe's trinket shop Drownspire. Pricing is to be announced, but it will likely be the same as previous Machine Machine books, so like $20.

MERURE

I'm proud to announce the release of Merure vol.1, a comic collective which i've been fortunate enough to be a part of, along with many other talented young artists from my hometown of Montreal.

The book features 12 artists, each of whom produced a 3-page comic. Some are in english, some are in french, but all feature amazing artwork!

Featured artists include:

Alexandre Boyer
Anne-Julie Painchaud
Caroline Breault
David Mondou-Labbe
Frédéric Dupéré
Jessica Lindsay
Mathieu Choquet
Michael Verhaaf
Samantha Leriche-Gionet
Valerie Bastille
Vincent Desbiens
...and of course yours truly.

Since this is a self-published book, I of course need to do my part in promoting the book, so if interested please go to the official Merure website for more info and ordering information.
